Ford’s on a mission to make road trips in their electric vehicles smoother than ever. With new EV routing features for the F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E, you can now plan charging stops and even find Tesla Superchargers right from Google Maps, thanks to a recent over-the-air (OTA) update.
Google Maps EV Routing Comes to Ford First revealed at CES 2024, this feature lets EV drivers see recommended charging points, complete with estimates of battery level upon arrival. Whether you’re cruising down the highway in a Lightning or taking a road trip in a Mach-E, this makes planning stops much easier.
And here’s a handy perk: if you’ve got an NACS adapter, you can tap into Tesla’s Supercharger network, with automatic battery preconditioning to cut down on your charging time. Just select a Tesla station, and your Ford will start warming up the battery on the way. Even better, you’ll see nearby shops and places to unwind while you charge.
Ford’s Product Manager, Anthony Philips, shared that they’re thrilled to bring this “end-to-end EV routing experience” to their drivers through Google Maps. All you need is the latest Google Maps update on your smartphone, and you’re good to go.
Ford’s “Power Promise” Program For new F-150 Lightning or Mustang Mach-E buyers, Ford’s new “Power Promise” program is the cherry on top: you’ll get a free Level 2 home charger and installation, helping you experience the ease of charging at home. It’s all about showing the perks of going electric and leaving gas stations behind.
With EV features like these, Ford is making charging simpler and more convenient for everyone.
