Hey EV fans, Jack here! Hyundai just shook things up by renaming their upcoming flagship SUV from Ioniq 7 to Ioniq 9, and they’ve released some slick teaser images to give us an idea of what’s coming. They’re clearly aiming for something that blends the futuristic vibes of their 2021 Seven concept with a more practical design. This means you can expect a few changes from the original concept to suit everyday drivers—things like conventional B- and C-pillars instead of rear-hinged doors and a more standard tailgate. But don’t worry, it still looks like Hyundai is set on delivering a sleek, head-turning ride.
Now, Hyundai’s calling this design the “Aerosthetic Silhouette.” It’s inspired by streamlined boats, so they’re going for a blend of aerodynamics and aesthetics. This likely means a cozy, spacious interior with room for up to seven people while keeping the shape smooth and efficient. And with Hyundai’s stretched E-GMP platform, the Ioniq 9 promises to be among the most spacious in its class, with ample legroom across all three rows.
One thing I’m keen to see is the Ioniq 9’s tech and battery performance. If it’s anything like its platform cousin, the Kia EV9, we might see battery options ranging from 76 to nearly 100 kWh, which could bring in a respectable range of around 300 miles. But there’s some speculation that Hyundai could push this flagship’s range even further, potentially hitting 350 miles on a single charge—fingers crossed for that!
And let’s talk about the look! Hyundai’s keeping those iconic pixel lights we know from other Ioniq models. This time, though, they’re adding something fresh: vertical lighting along the D-pillars, which should make it stand out even more on the road. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for the full unveil in November, so stay tuned for updates. I’m pumped to see if the Ioniq 9 lives up to the hype, and I’ll be here to give you the real scoop when it finally arrives. Exciting stuff ahead for all of us in the EV community!
